MY REVIEW: I enjoyed this book so much! I was extremely enlightened when I discovered the author is going to be writing 5-6 books in this series.Celaena is the world’s most notorious assassin and after getting caught she is sent to a death camp. The king decides to have a contest to see who’ll become his personal assassin. (Cause he couldn’t just hire one). The prince decides to choose Celaena to compete, which means she gets to leave the camp.
This book had a very Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets feel to it. (nothing like HP) I don’t know maybe it has to do with Elena and how she kept talking about the evil lurking in the castle, but we have no idea who’s being evil or whats the evil thing. Just like in Harry Potter where it was like Who is the heir of Slytherin? What lies in the Chamber of Secrets??
The love triangle was intense! Kind of like The Infernal Devices. The whole best friends thing. But I’m Team Dorion all the way. This author is seriously spectacular. I’m so glad I found this book, I Highly recommend it!
SYNOPSIS: In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king’s champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien.
The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass–and it’s there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.
